Allen West œLook what happened to a U.S. corporation that DARED speak out against Obama policy

In the end, could this all be political and an act of retribution to “punish your political enemies? ~ Allen West.

As Written By Allen B. West:

Just yesterday we shared the story about the end of the coal industry in America with the bankruptcy filing by Peabody Coal. We asked the rhetorical question, what kind of American president would intentionally seek to destroy an American industry? I think it was an easy to answer question and of course we know what kind that is. I find it utterly hilarious to hear these misguided little millennial progressive socialists regurgitate talking points about corporate welfare and crony capitalism — they only need to examine the Obama administration for that – but perhaps they NEVER heard of Solyndra. And of course we know Obama does favors for those whom he embraces, and uses…ask JP Morgan CEO, Jamie Dimon.

Now before I share this story, I must say in full disclosure I wear Asics.

As reported by The Boston Globe, “New Balance is renewing its opposition to the far-reaching Pacific Rim trade deal, saying the Obama administration reneged on a promise to give the sneaker maker a fair shot at military business if it stopped bad-mouthing the agreement.

After several years of resistance to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a pact aimed at making it easier to conduct trade among the United States and 11 other countries, the Boston company had gone quiet last year. New Balance officials say one big reason is that they were told the Department of Defense would give them serious consideration for a contract to outfit recruits with athletic shoes.

But no order has been placed, and New Balance officials say the Pentagon is intentionally delaying any purchase.

New Balance is reviving its fight against the trade deal, which would, in part, gradually phase out tariffs on shoes made in Vietnam. A loss of those tariffs, the company says, would make imports cheaper and jeopardize its factory jobs in New England.

The administration has made the pact a priority. It could be voted on by Congress later this year, though possibly not until after the November elections.

“We swallowed the poison pill that is TPP so we could have a chance to bid on these contracts,” said Matt LeBretton, New Balance’s vice president of public affairs. “We were assured this would be a top-down approach at the Department of Defense if we agreed to either support or remain neutral on TPP. [But] the chances of the Department of Defense buying shoes that are made in the USA are slim to none while Obama is president.”

Now what I love is, if this were a Republican president, this story would be playing full cycle 24/7 on all the liberal progressive media outlets. But what really is humorous is the fact that the leftists complain about crony capitalism and corporate welfare and scheming. Well, what do they call this?

Here is a clear example of exactly what ills our free market system: government intervention. So here’s my attempt to understand the logic.

President Obama wanted to silence criticism of New Balance so he offered them favoritism in the awarding of a government contract, in this case a Department of Defense contract to provide running shoes for recruits. Now, if you can understand one thing that is a lucrative deal. That had to be the case, since Obama’s desire is to eliminate tariffs on imported running shoes from Vietnam which would result in the decimation of a similar industry in America, namely New England.

When Obama got what he wanted — silence of opposition– he then reneges. Brilliantly shrewd. In other words, Obama made a promise just to buy time to have opposition quieted while he continued to maneuver his deal.

So, all you little progressive socialist acolytes, what say you about this revelation? Oh, I know, the GOP does it…or it is Bush’s fault. I actually have to laugh for a minute, in that this is exactly what Donald Trump is railing about, yet these chuckleheads are out there protesting his rallies.

Could it just be that these Bernie Sanders-aligned liberal progressive millennial protesters are clueless about trade issues and the effects on American industry? And shall we dare to ponder, how many other industries in America have faced something similar emanating from the Obama administration in order to force their silence on TPP? Oh, and where are those union leaders? You know, those fat cats who say they’re fighting for the little guy, the American worker?

Y’all know, if there is one thing that I love to shine a light on, it’s liberal progressive socialist hypocrisy. We just caught President Obama with his hand all in this cookie jar, but what are the consequences?

Here’s the simple assessment; the cheeky fella who keeps talking about “strengthening the middle class” is plotting to ship their jobs overseas, to Vietnam. Instead of developing better tax and regulatory policies that advance and promote production and manufacturing in America…Barack Obama is undermining the American worker.

“The company employs about 1,400 people at its five New England factories — one in Brighton, one in Lawrence, and three in Maine. Company officials say they are looking to add workers to those plants, and they see a major military contract, with potentially as many as 200,000 shoe orders a year, as a way to help reach that goal. Nearly every piece of gear that military recruits wear is made in the United States, per a 1940s-era law known as the Berry Amendment. But for many years, athletic shoes were exempt, largely because of a lack of sufficient domestic options.”

We have a domestic option, a very viable and quality one with New Balance, so why the unnecessary manipulation about silence on the TPP? Could it be that supporting the Vietnamese running shoe market is more important to Obama than the American worker?

But in the end, could this all be political and an act of retribution to “punish your political enemies?”

“The administration says the issues of foreign tariffs and of whether the Pentagon should be required to buy shoes made domestically are entirely separate. New Balance disagrees. Though most of the company’s shoes are made overseas, domestic manufacturing is a big priority for owner Jim Davis, a longtime Republican donor.”

Perhaps the message is that these are dangerous times to be a business owner who isn’t a member of the new American Socialist Party once known as the Democrat Party. Sadly, for those workers who end up potentially losing their jobs, they can always just become part of the Obama expanding dependency society — his new 21st century economic plantation.
