The season of goodwill: Footage shows mobs fighting over shoes
If you thought that shameful scenes of Americans squabbling over consumer goods were restricted to black Friday, think again. Footage shows people across the country brawling over the release of new Air Jordan 11 sneakers.
Sneak attack? Release of Nike Air Jordan Gamma Blue 11s cause brawls in shoe stores nationwide
The footage below, shot at Weberstown mall in Stockton, California, shows a fist fight breaking out over the shoes, with staff desperately attempting to quell the violence.
Another video clip also shows people brawling outside a Footlocker in the Bronx.
This video shows a man punching another square in the face with a ferocity that could have been fatal.
According to MyFoxDFW, police were called after fights broke out in a waiting line at Southwest Center Mall. Again, the line wasn’t even to purchase the shoes, merely for the right to obtain a voucher to buy them at a later date.
Another video shows a mob in New York City complaining as one store closes its gates after selling out of the shoes.
“With the shoes now officially on sale, the world appears to be ending,” joked USA Today’s Nick Schwartz.
These videos confirm that Black Friday madness is now becoming an epidemic, with victims of vapid consumerism now behaving with less grace than the zombies in George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead.
Again we ask the question, if this is what Americans behave like over trainers, how are they going to react when the food runs out?
