Dr. Tim Shepherd is the head of Shepherd HealthCare in Lewisville, Texas. He has been a physician in Lewisville for 30 thirty years and is concerned about his patients under Obamacare.
In a recent interview, Shepherd said that he sees Obamacare as being a disaster that will lower the medical care that a number of his patients will be allowed to receive thus reducing their quality of life. From what he has seen of Obamacare, many of his elderly patients may not be allowed to get procedures such as knee or hip replacements because of their age.
Additionally, he is dreading the mountains of regulatory paperwork that Obamacare will create. Currently, his practice has 15 employees. Five of his 15 employees do nothing but handle paperwork and fight with insurance companies and Medicare. A number of other doctors that he knows are either retiring or leaving their practices to join the larger medical corporations and Shepherd said he doesn’t want to do either of those.
He wants to continue to provide that best medical care for his patients that he’s always provided, but doubts if Obamacare will allow him to do so. When asked about whether Congress should fund Obamacare, Shepherd replied:
“I am a believer in defunding Obamacare because I think it’s going to be a disaster for our country.”
Shepherd’s not the only one who wants Congress to defund Obamacare. In a newly released CNN/ORC International Survey, Americans are not as receptive to Obamacare as they were. In January, they found that 51% of Americans still favored Obamacare. In their latest poll, that figure has dropped to only 39%. What’s even more interesting is the two demographic groups that have seen the largest drop in support of Obamacare were both Democratic – women and Americans who make less than $50,000 a year.
Obama is losing the support of two of his key groups and if these people are contacting their senators and representatives in Washington, there just may be a good chance that Obamacare is defunded. We all need to be contacting our politicians in Washington and demand that they defund Obamacare because Dr. Shepherd is right when he says it is a disaster for our country and one that I don’t think we could ever recover from.
