Homeowner Guns Down Three Masked, Armed Burglars with AR-15

| Infowars,

Intruders carried knife, brass knuckles amid brazen midday robbery.

Three armed thieves were shot dead in Oklahoma Monday by a homeowner wielding an AR-15 rifle.

The incident took place in Wagoner County and led to the arrest of suspected getaway driver and robbery mastermind Elizabeth Rodriguez, 21.

A 911 call released Wednesday provides context into the moments following the altercation.

“I’ve just been broken into. Three men, two I’ve shot in my house,” the 23-year-old caller tells the 911 operator. “One’s down, one’s still talking. You need to get here now.”

Here’s a transcript of selected segments from the call:

Caller: “They broke in the back door. I can hear one of them talking.”

Dispatcher: “What are they saying?”

Caller: “I can’t hear them.”

Dispatcher: “Where were they shot?”

Caller: “Upper body.”

Dispatcher: “OK sir, my deputy is on scene. I’m going to need you to unarm yourself and put the gun away.”

Caller: “OK, it’ll be unloaded on my bed. I’ll still be in my bedroom.”

Caller: “You said he’s on scene?”

Dispatcher: “Yes sir, my deputy should be on scene. I’m going to stay on the phone until my deputy says it’s OK for you to hang up, OK.”

Caller: “OK, let me know when the deputy is in the house.”

Caller: “As soon as you confirm the deputy is in the house I’ll unload the weapon.”

Dispatcher: “Just go ahead and keep the deputy, I’m sorry, keep your weapon on your bed and remain unarmed, please sir.”

A third burglar who managed to escape later died in the home’s driveway, though the resident claimed he “didn’t shoot him.”

“One of the injured suspects exited the home and tried to get back in to Rodriguez’s vehicle, but she told investigators she drove away and left him in the driveway,” a Wagoner County sheriff’s office press release said.

The three men entered the home just past noon wearing masks, gloves and armed with a knife and brass knuckles.

After robbing a spare room elsewhere on the property, the robbers planned to break into the main house where Rodriguez claimed the family “had money and expensive belongings, and that was why she selected his home to ‘hit a lick’ – a term some criminals use to describe getting a significant amount of money in a short period of time.”

“The three teens, dressed in black and covering their faces, kicked in the door, encountered the resident and were shot inside the house,” reports CNN.

The man then barricaded himself inside his bedroom and called 911, informing the operator he would leave the rifle on the bed.

Rodriguez fled but later drove to the Broken Arrow Police Department to turn herself in.

The woman, suspected of orchestrating the bungled break-in, faces three counts of first-degree murder and a first-degree burglary charge, in addition to a count of second-degree burglary.

Felony charges could be pursued if it’s found Rodriguez was committing a felony at the time the three died.

“The intruders were identified as 19-year-old Maxwell Cook, 17-year-old Jacob Redfern and 16-year-old Jaykob Woodriff,” KFOR News reported Thursday.

The victim will likely not face charges for defending his home under Oklahoma’s “Stand your ground” self-defense law, which states:

“A person or a owner, manager or employee of a business is presumed to have held a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another when using defensive force that is intended or likely to cause death or great bodily harm to another.”

“Preliminary investigation looks like it’s self-defense,” the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Deputy said.

Formal charges are expected to be filed this week.

Indeed, AR-15s are an excellent weapon. Some are skittish about its use since it can penetrate walls and possibly injure or kill innocent people, but I’m not sure how much that pans out. A quick Google search yielded an article I’ll share the link to below, but my AR-15 is always loaded, not chambered, and has an empty chamber indicator in it that self ejects if the charging handle retracts the bolt. To chamber the round the charging handle needs pulled back all the way, but this device ejects with less than 1/4 inch of retraction. Of course with visits from the grandchildren, the magazine is removed, secured, and a look up the magazine well shows the empty chamber indicator protruding into the chamber, thereby excluding a loaded round in an absolutely positive way.

On my .45, my wife was unable to pull the slide back to chamber a round, a revolver would work, but limited number of shots, and see the article I’ll link to on why a shotgun may not be the best choice. On the AR-15, my wife can handle it with no trouble, recoil is minimal, and the charging handle easy to operate.

I set out to buy a a Ruger Mini-14 but found an AR-15 that’s less expensive and impressive in quality. Rugers are fine guns, and in a way, easier to visualize the action, but in this case, this U.S. made AR-15 had price and practicality appeal.

I started walking, doctor’s orders. So, I met a woman, and an unrelated guy, talking down the road from my house. In the Pittsburgh fashion, I said hello, then got involved in talking with them. Come to find out, right down the street from my house, just last week there’s been a series of break-ins, including a car rifled through just a few doors down, and a man that brazenly walked into a home and demanded things. Our police have, to their credit, stepped up patrols, for which we are grateful.

Just last night, a police call on the radio had another man, in Pittsburgh, show up at a strangers house and ask if it was a prostitute house, when told no, he walked to the neighbors house and the first man called the police, saying the guys mouth was covered in some white substance. The world is increasingly populated by lunatics, some quite violent.

If you have a gun for self defence, become proficient in its use, in safety of handling it, and seek training at a local gun club or non-government source. I vehemently oppose govt requirements for the right to own guns, but get familiar with their use. One of the Ruger Mini-14 videos above shows it jamming with a specific magazine, this can happen with any firearm, or can be ammunition related. When used for self defense, such failures can cost you, or loved ones, their lives. This is why safely practicing with your weapon is important, to find out problems ahead of time and only use what’s reliable.
