Ivanka Trump, daughter of the presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, said on Thursday that she thinks her father is elevating the dialogue around political issues.
“He’s honest,” she said at a Forbes magazine event, according to The Telegraph.
“With him, what you see is what you get. Even if you don’t like his viewpoint on a certain topic, I think people respect that he’s bold enough to say what he’s actually thinking and that’s something we’ve never really experienced in politics, and there should be a lot more of.”
“And I think he’s elevated — he’s created dialogue around issues. It’s a powerful thing,” she said.
Trump has come under criticism from members of both parties who say he is lowering the standards of political discourse.
He has taken heat for describing Mexicans crossing the border as rapists and making disparaging comments about women including Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and onetime presidential rival Carly Fiorina.
