Lt. Col. Oliver North: Obama is Illegally Ignoring Marine Jailed in Mexico

We have told you about Marine Sgt. and Afghan war vet Andrew Tahmooressi, who accidentally crossed the border into Mexico with legally owned firearms in his truck, and is now being held in a Mexican jail.

Fellow veterans and bikers have rallied to his support, staging protests near the border to demand his release from Mexico.

President Obama has completely ignored the situation and done nothing.  Fortunately, the alternative media has been all over the story, with even a little assistance from some Fox News hosts, raising awareness about the outrageous imprisonment of a US Marine on bogus gun charges.

Lt. Col. Oliver North says President Barack Obama is required by law to demand Mexico release U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, who has been held three months for crossing the border with weapons in his vehicle.

North told Fox News Channel’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto” on Thursday that Title 22 of the U.S. Code, paragraph 1732, requires the president to demand any country release an American citizen being held in a foreign country unjustly.

According to Cornell Law review, that specific section of code reads:

“Whenever it is made known to the President that any citizen of the United States has been unjustly deprived of his liberty by or under the authority of any foreign government, it shall be the duty of the President forthwith to demand of that government the reasons of such imprisonment; and if it appears to be wrongful and in violation of the rights of American citizenship, the President shall forthwith demand the release of such citizen, and if the release so demanded is unreasonably delayed or refused, the President shall use such means, not amounting to acts of war and not otherwise prohibited by law, as he may think necessary and proper to obtain or effectuate the release; and all the facts and proceedings relative thereto shall as soon as practicable be communicated by the President to Congress.”

The House Foreign Affairs Committee confirmed to North that Obama has not used that relevant law to secure the release of Sgt. Tahmooressi, as he should have.

This is just another example of Obama’s lawlessness.  He ignores laws when they don’t suit him or his agenda.  Sgt. Tahmooressi should have already been released long ago, yet Obama hasn’t even mentioned his name, much less lifted a finger to make that happen.
