The 11th Wing of the U.S. Air Force holds jurisdiction over the base, which used to be referred to as Andrews Air Force Base before October 2010. The 316th Wing merged with the 11th as a result of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission recommendations.

Air Force One, which is the president’s official aircraft, is housed at the base in Camp Springs, MD, which is located a couple of miles southeast of Washington, DC.
