Governor Mike Pence – the yin to Trump’s yang. Mr. Trump took a big step forward in making his case by selecting Mike Pence as his running mate. The Indiana governor represents the seasoned, steady, conservative influence missing from the Trump arsenal.
Governor Mike Pence has the potential to be the first kind of running mate — a stamp of approval from a trusted hand that helps the ticket. The irony is that, at age 57, he is 13 years younger than Trump, yet is thrust into the role of the grownup.
Republicans in Cleveland Applaud Trump Pick of Mike Pence
Republican delegates and leaders praised Mr. Trump’s choice of Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate. Leaders are saying it would stabilize the ticket and calm social conservatives.
Thousands of Republicans are preparing for the convention in Ohio, and Mr. Trump is looking forward to unifying the party, “I’m impressed with his conservative credentials and I think he will be a positive, stabilizing force for the Trump campaign,” said Kris Warner, a national committeeman from West Virginia. “I think it’s a very positive move.”
The choice of Pence, who served in the U.S. House of Representatives for 12 years, was a nod to social conservatives and to the Rust Belt, a region crucial to Trump’s chances of victory. It adds significant government experience to Trump’s outsider campaign for the White House.
“It unquestionably will help him with conservatives across a broad spectrum,” Blackwell said. “Mike Pence is a full-spectrum Reagan conservative on limited government, free enterprise, strong defense, and traditional values.”
Trump-Pence Is a Winner for the GOP
This week, Mr. Trump immediately released a statement on the horrific terrorist truck attack in Nice, and said that if elected he would ask Congress for a declaration of war to combat global terrorism. Later in the week, Mr. Trump announced Indiana governor Mike Pence as his Vice Presidential pick on the GOP ticket. In the past, Governor Pence served as a leader of the conservative House Republican Study Committee and later as the third-ranking member of the House Republican leadership team, he stood firm as a genuine and consistent conservative. He will prove to be a tough and unyielding spokesman for the Trump ticket. Pence is a fighter. He will happily go after Hillary’s awful record.
It was also a week where Hillary’s polls were like stocks looking for a bottom. Trump-Pence is a winner for the GOP.
