They have lied so much that they possibly even believe their own lies. How else can Obama claim with a straight face that the national debt is in a “sustainable place”, or that “we don’t have an urgent deficit crisis“? The denial has gotten so bad it has forced some states to consider calling for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.
Now, one of the former paid liars and administration insiders is speaking out about the lying and denial of the fiscal insanity practiced by this President’s administration.

Timothy Geithner, the former secretary of the Treasury Department, says the White House wanted him to lie in scheduled appearances on the Sunday TV talk shows. As Geithner writes in his new memoir:
“I remember during one Roosevelt Room prep session before I appeared on the Sunday shows, I objected when Dan Pfeiffer wanted me to say Social Security didn’t contribute to the deficit. It wasn’t a main driver of our future deficits, but it did contribute. Pfeiffer said the line was a ‘dog whistle’ to the left, a phrase I had never heard before. He had to explain that the phrase was code to the Democratic base, signaling that we intended to protect Social Security.”
It would be very interesting to hear how many other times Geithner was encouraged to lie or misrepresent the truth to the American people on national television. Watch how he tries to explain away the administration’s lies about Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the national debt and the deficit to Rep. Paul Ryan while discussing one of the President’s proposed budgets.
Of course, as The Weekly Standard points out, Geithner is not the only administration official that has lied on national television. Former Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice comes to mind, with her blatant lies about Benghazi. There is no telling how many other members of the administration, or Obama’s campaign, even Obama himself, have told outright lies to the American people in an effort to further their agenda.
