Poll: Do You Support the States Nullifying Gun Control?

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution states that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

This right is not a privilege granted to us by our benevolent government, the Constitution, or our nation’s Founders.  It is an inalienable and inherent natural right that predates even the sacred document that we hold dear.  The Second Amendment merely guarantees us that our government can never take that right away.

Unfortunately, over time that right has been infringed in many ways, and the complacency of the people and the states is partly to blame.  But now some states are beginning to fight back against an overreaching and infringing federal government.

Do you support the states that are nullifying gun control measures within their borders?  Take a second to answer the poll below, then read on to learn more about the states that are taking a pro-gun rights stance in the face of a progressive anti-gun federal government.

Do you support the states nullifying gun control?

Multiple states have introduced or passed legislation recently that seeks to nullify federal gun control measures within their state and stop President Obama’s anti-gun agenda in it’s tracks.

States like Arizona, Idaho, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee, among others, have all considered or passed bills modeled after The Tenth Amendment Center‘s “Second Amendment Preservation Act”.

Basically, the Second Amendment Preservation Act reasserts the right of a state to determine what is best for its own citizens when it comes to gun laws.  The Act declares that any and all federal laws that are viewed as unconstitutional or an infringement of the Second Amendment will be null and void within the state, and no agent or officer of the state may enforce, or cooperate with federal enforcement of, these gun control measures.  Some states have even added criminal penalties to this act.

There is also a type of nullification occurring that is not being done legislatively by the states, but rather on a municipal and county level, by state and local police departments and County Sheriffs respecting the gun rights of law-abiding citizens and refusing to enforce gun control laws.  The Milwaukee County Sheriff and Detroit Police Chief are good examples of this.

A majority of Sheriffs in Colorado have united together with a lawsuit against the state for their recent gun control law, with one of the Sheriffs saying that regardless of the end result of the lawsuit, he will not enforce the gun control laws.

In New York, the State Police have said they will not enforce the arbitrary limit on ammunition in firearm magazines, and the New York Sheriffs Association is telling their member Sheriffs not to enforce the NY SAFE Act at all.  In fact, sheriffs across the country, from California to Florida and every state in between are standing up for the right to keep and bear arms.

Iowa, Kansas and South Carolina are considering legislation that would restore the right of Constitutional carry, carrying a firearm without the need of a license or permit, for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves.

States like Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana and West Virginia, to name just a few, have all recently passed pro-gun legislation that overrules local gun control ordinances or expands the rights of gun owners in their respective states.

This is quite refreshing when compared to states like California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey and New York that are actively working to restrict the rights of gun owners.

Let us hope that more and more states stand up to the gun grabbers, the federal government and the Obama administration’s anti-gun agenda by passing more laws that will nullify and void all past, present and future attempts to infringe upon the right of all people to keep and bear arms for the defense of themselves and others.
