Newt Gingrich: Left-Wing Dems ‘Live in a Fantasy World’ on Foreign Policy

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) said liberal Democrats’ views on foreign policy are not grounded in reality.

Gingrich compared former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry’s actions toward Russia and Iran with that of President Trump and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

He said the weak nature of Clinton and Kerry’s contact with Russian envoy Sergey Lavrov was in stark contrast to the icy meeting between Tillerson and Lavrov.

Gingrich said Clinton, Kerry and Obama repeat the same sentiments about getting along with countries that dislike the United States no matter what the opposing government does.

He said Clinton’s ‘Russian reset’ was an example of the left “never learning their lesson,” in that some foreign governments cannot be trusted no matter how sympathetic America acts.

He pointed out that despite Iran’s anti-American actions, like “Death to America” chants and funding of terrorism, Obama still promised that a deal with the nation would be the end-all solution to the problems.

“20 years [of trouble] with Korea, Iran- it doesn’t matter,” Gingrich said. “If you’re a deeply committed liberal, you live in a fantasy world.”
