Clueless Pelosi: ‘I Don’t Think People Want New Direction’

Despite claim, Democratic Party is in historic decline.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi made a stunning statement that, despite Democrats losing the Senate, House, two-thirds of State Houses, and the Presidency, the American people don’t want the country to go in a new direction.

When asked in CBS’s Face the Nation what she would say to those who want fresh change and what she would do differently in light of Democrats having been soundly defeated in the election, Pelosi replied, “Well, I don’t think people want a new direction.”

“What we want is a better connection of our message to working families in our country, and that clearly in the election showed that that message wasn’t coming through.”

Host John Dickerson said that Democrats had been getting clobbered at every level since 2008, but Pelosi insisted that the Dems’ decline is due to the cyclical nature of elections.

“You’re forgetting that we went up so high in 2006 and 2008, and let me just put that in perspective,” she said to the host. “When President Clinton was elected, Republican came in big in the next election. When President Bush was president, we came in big in the next election. When President Obama became president, Republicans came in big in the next election.”

Democrats re-elected Pelosi as their leader last week after an unsurprising challenge from Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan who argued Dems must do more to speak to working class voters in the rust belt and not just coastal liberal elites.

Pelosi, who’s led the Dems since 2002, fended off Ryan with 134-63 vote win, but is so delusional that she can’t face the reality that the Democratic Party is in a historic decline.

“I’m rooting for Nancy!” GOP Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said last week. “She may have more support in our conference than her own conference.”
