Documents Show Sanders Supporters offer $15 an Hour to Protest Trump in Wisconsin
Uncovered bombshell documents found on Craigslist, an online marketplace for goods and services, shows that Bernie Sanders supporters are paying anti-Trump protesters $15 an hour to protest Trump’s Janesville Wisconsin rally tomorrow afternoon.
The Bernie Brigade apparently wants $15-an-hour minimum wage right now, and they’re willing to pay.
A Craigslist ad apparently posted Monday by Bernie Sanders backers offered “Temporary Paid Positions to Protest” the Donald Trump Rally scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday in Janesville, about 45 miles southeast of Madison.
“We are seeking people to protest the Donald Trump rally in Janesville, WI. We are willing to pay $15 an hour for a maximum amount of four hours for this service,” the ad, since taken down, requested.
California Gov. Jerry Brown and state lawmakers reached a deal Monday to jack up the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2022 — the first in the nation. They seemed to be asking themselves, “What Would socialist Bernie Sanders do?”
“We are offering this amount because of the current income inequality that we are fighting in America today!” the Craigslist ad proudly exclaimed.
CRAIGSLIST PROTESTERS: This ad sought $15-an-hour professional protesters at Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s rally Tuesday in Janesville.
The protesters, according to the post, were to meet at a “pre-rally point at 3300 W. Tripp Road” in Janesville. That’s the address of the city’s wastewater treatment plant
The protesters, according to the post, were to meet at a “pre-rally point at 3300 W. Tripp Road” in Janesville. That’s the address of the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
“I have permission to use this for a pre-rally point to provide signs, a time card, and a shuttle bus to the event,” the Craigslist user wrote.
In perhaps a big government twist, the Bernie backer seems concerned with the possibility of a protester gaming the system.
“There will be a requirement of designated signature time stamps at the pre-rally and at the event every hour to combat fraud,” the ad stated.
Several anti-Trump protesters were arrested Monday after occupying a Janesville Holiday Inn Express, where Trump is slated to speak.
Police gave the protesters several opportunities to disband and exit the building before they moved to arrest six people on possible charges of trespassing, according to media accounts.
The six demonstrators arrested wouldn’t provide their names to police before being booked, according to the Janesville Gazette. “They had joined hands inside of PVC piping and may have also been handcuffed inside the piping,” the newspaper reported.
Liberal state Rep. Melissa Sargent, D-Madison, joined 60 protesters at the hotel. She called on the Holiday Inn to “take a stand against hate,” according to the Gazette.
Using the kind of tactics deployed by big labor during Wisconsin’s Act 10 battles of five years ago, the protesters said they were trying to “convince” the Trump campaign to cancel the Republican presidential candidate’s trip.
