ANN COULTER: Trump Must Focus On Core Promises, Reject Paul Ryan Agenda

| Infowars,

Ryan is not on Trump’s side.

In an appearance on Fox News, Ann Coulter expressed her concern that President Donald Trump is getting sucked into the all-too-familiar Republican quagmire, and instead needs to drive his own agenda straight through the Establishment opposition.

“They seem to be Paul Ryan’s priorities, and also just the standard GOP corporatist stuff,” she told Tucker Carlson. “What made Donald Trump stand apart from the crowd – and apart from the crowd of every presidential candidate for the last 20 years – was immigration, trade, infrastructure, building a wall – obviously that was very, very popular.”

“A lot of people haven’t been listened to all this time, and look – I like tax cuts…

I would love to have my taxes cut – but [only] 50% of the people even pay taxes.”

She went on to expose the absurdity of Ryan’s ‘Obamacare Lite’ as hardly an acceptable replacement for the so-called ‘Affordable Care Act,’ which Trump promised to repeal and replace as a core tenet of his campaign platform.

“To listen to them all talking about how, ‘Congress is going to give us these things’ – no, Congress can give us nothing,” she said in exasperation. “The free market can give us things.”

“And they’re coming up with the premiums? Who would be better to come up with the premiums: someone whose business it is, who needs to come up with a good premium to compete to get my business, and who has disease specialists and actuarial specialists – or politicians in Washington?”

Carlson moved on to the topic of immigration, citing open borders regressives’ flat refusal to acknowledge the connection between the rampant inflow from third-world countries and the horrific crimes committed by these invaders – like last week’s appalling gang rape of a 14-year-old Maryland girl by two ‘classmates,’ aged 17 and 18, from El Salvador and Guatemala.

“Immigration policy is the definition of something we can control – who comes into the country,” Coulter responded. “There are all these Americans who wouldn’t have dead children, who wouldn’t be raped, who wouldn’t be dead themselves… or addicted to heroin, but for our immigration policy.”

“That’s something we can change, so let’s change it.”

Coulter concluded by reminding viewers that Paul Ryan was the vice presidential candidate on a losing ticket, and that Republican leadership should take a hint and get behind Trump’s policies and agenda if they want to remain in office.

This one I’m disagreeing with Ann. The Republicans purity plan is to get govt out of healthcare, sounds reasonable right? But the govt should, equally, never been involved in social security, or been involved in bail-outs of the savings and loan banks, the auto industry, etc.

But Republicans will not do the limited govt thing when it comes to bailing out their donors, or potential donors, with tax payer money. It would make more sense to address the high cost of pharmaceuticals in the U.S., lower costs will lower insurance premiums. From my understanding, pharmaceuticals can be purchased in Canada, and Europe, identical to those here, at a fraction of the cost.

Congress Pens Deal To Allow Canada Drug Imports

The above link seems to work on the initial visit. Subsequent visits may require a subscription to view. Nevertheless, the gist is that Congress acted to allow people crossing the border to carry up to a 90 day supply from Canada, not to permit buying by mail.

Americans Want to Buy Cheaper Medicine From Canada. Why Did 13 Democrats Vote Against Letting Them?

…..Booker and a number of the other Democratic senators who said nay are among the biggest senatorial recipients of pharmaceutical contributions between 2010 and 2016.

What makes this particularly unfortunate: 12 Republican senators, including Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and John McCain, crossed party lines to vote for the amendment, which went down 46–52. Oh, and earlier in the day, Trump briefly ranted…..about how the pharmaceutical companies were “getting away with murder” because “Pharma has a lot of lobbies, a lot of lobbyists and a lot of power.”

…..Booker told Jezebel he voted no because the bill did not “include consumer protections that ensure foreign drugs meet American safety standards.” Expect to hear that one again: There will be other chances for Democrats and Republicans to show us how serious they are about helping Americans combat the runaway prices of prescription drugs. Klobuchar and McCain introduced legislation last week that would allow Americans to order prescriptions from Canada, the Safe and Affordable Drugs from Canada Act……

There’s clearly room for bipartisan movement on this issue. But if Democrats can’t overcome the powerful Washington lobbies to even make a mostly symbolic vote like the one on Wednesday night’s amendment, they’ll likely remain a party in disarray…..

These shenanigans have been going on for years. Booker told Jezebel he voted no because the bill did not “include consumer protections that ensure foreign drugs meet American safety standards.” The fallacy in Booker’s statement is this: Many, many drugs are manufactured in other countries, I have seen medication from India, Israel, and Ireland, to name a few. The purchase of drugs from Canada need only be limited to products that are identically sold here. Folks, it’s the same drugs, identical, and they’re cheaper in Canada and Europe.

2005 Article: A comparison of brand-name drug prices between Canadian-based Internet pharmacies and major U.S. drug chain pharmacies.

    RESULTS:
Americans can save a mean of approximately 24% per unit of drug if they purchase their medications from Canadian Internet pharmacies instead of from major online U.S. drug chain pharmacies. Forty-one of the 44 brand-name medications examined were less expensive in Canada. The medications offering the largest mean yearly savings were Zyprexa (olanzapine) (Eli Lilly, Indianapolis, Indiana) ($1,159), Actos (pioglitazone) (Eli Lilly, Indianapolis, Indiana) ($852), and Nexium (esomeprazole) (AstraZeneca, Wilmington, Delaware) ($772). Only 3 medications, all in the erectile dysfunction category, were more expensive in Canada.

Video: Martin Shkreli Testifies Before Congress: Full Testimony | CNBC

Martin Shkreli, raised Drug Prices from $13.50 to $750 overnight. Watch him at the above video. This is to an extent the pharmaceutical industry. My reading this morning revealed that the low prices in Canada or Europe are largely possible due to the high prices here that pay for Research and Development. They don’t pass those prices on to Canada and Europe? And why not?

Dear politicians, get the prices down first, lower premiums will follow, and you’ll be able to do more with less and come out looking like heroes.
