Update: Phildelphia, 5 Dead in Montco killings Person taken by ambulance from Souderton standoff

A person was taken out of a home on a stretcher and put into an ambulance at the location of a barricade situation in Souderton, Pa. amid a killing spree in Montgomery County.

It is not known who that person was.

Action News reporter David Henry, at the scene of the standoff, reported a large boom was heard shortly before noon. The device may have been a flash-bang, used by police in this type of situation to disorient a suspect.

There was an increase in police activity at that time.

Law enforcement sources tell Action News that the death toll in the Montgomery County killing spree is likely to rise.

So far, five people are reported to be dead at three locations in Souderton, Lansdale and Lower Salford Township.

Sources say the killings are related to what is being called a domestic situation.

Meanwhile, police were seen from Chopper 6 outside homes in Pennsburg, Pa. A staging area with multiple police units could be seen in a nearby parking lot.

Police could also be seen blocking streets in the center of town at Routes 29 and 663.

The situation in Pennsburg it not yet known.

Police could also be seen staging outside a home at Penn and Highland avenues in Souderton, Pa. It was believed the suspect was barricaded there, but it is not yet known if he is indeed there.

This came after police were called to Franklin and Garfield streets in Souderton where two people were found dead.

The first shooting was reported at 3:55 a.m. at the Pheasant Run Apartments the 100 block of Main Street in Lower Salford. Police arrived to find a woman shot to death. Two bullet holes could be seen from outside.

A neighbor there told Action News reporter Annie McCormick “I heard 3 or 4 gunshots. I heard the kids saying mommy no! mommy no!”

Police say the suspect took two children from the Lower Salford Twp. apartment during this incident, but were found safe a short distance away.

A second call came in half an hour later, at 4:25 a.m., for another shooting 100 block of West 5th Street in Lansdale. Officers arrived at that location to find two more people shot and killed.

Sources say all the victims shot a close range.

There was no word on the identity of the suspect, though police indicate he is a male military veteran.

The Souderton Area School District has lifted an earlier shelter-in-place order.
